Podcast Script Expectations
Originality:
Each student must write their own podcast script. The script must be entirely original, and students are not allowed to use AI or any other automated writing tools to generate any portion of the script.
Topic:
Students may choose any topic for their podcast, as long as it is school-appropriate. Topics can be informative, entertaining, or creative, but must be respectful and relevant to an audience of their peers.
Length:
The podcast script should result in a finished podcast between 3 and 5 minutes in length when recorded. Expect something in the range of 250 - 500 words. Remember you will have intro music and other breaks/sounds in your final podcast.
Structure:
The script must follow a clear structure, including:
Introduction:
Introduce the podcast topic and engage the audience.
Main Content:
Present the main points, storytelling, or discussion in a logical flow.
Conclusion:
Provide a summary or final thoughts and thank the listeners.
Incorporating Audio Elements:
The script should include detailed notes on when to introduce music, sound effects, or other audio cues. Use the following format for noting these elements: [MUSIC: Type/Title of Music – Start/Stop at Time/Duration] [SFX: Description of Sound Effect – Start/Stop at Time/Duration] Example: “Today, we’re going to talk about the history of video games. [MUSIC: Upbeat Intro Music – Start at 00:00, Fade Out at 00:20, Plays Under Talking] What video games do you enjoy playing? In this episode we will explore casual games that you can play on your school laptop during downtime.”
Language and Tone:
The script should be written in a conversational tone appropriate for the podcast audience. Avoid formal language. Offensive or inappropriate language is prohibited.
Formatting:
Scripts should be typed and clearly formatted. Use Word Online for your work. Login to Office 365 to access Word Online.
