Day 37 - Writing Your Podcast Script
Friday, March 6th, 2026
Today's Objectives
- I can write a full script for my podcast episode.
- I can accept constructive feedback and make revisions to my script.
- I can identify appropriate sound effects to enhance my podcast episode.
Warmup: Review the Project
Read all of the instructions in the warmup, work session, and script expectations below. You will take a quiz on all of this information today.
In this project you are producing a complete podcast. So far we have been focused on writing the script. The script should contain the exact words you intend to say when we record the episode Monday.
Last week, while Mr. Willingham was away riding rollercoasters, you should have prepared some music in Soundtrap. You will use that music in your episode. We’ll add the music after we record.
Similarly, we will add sound effects after we record. Soundtrap has a sound library with a variety of sound effects. You should include the name of these sound effects on your script where you intend to use them. For example, you might write [Insert Applause Sound Effect Here] in your script to indicate where you want to add an applause sound effect.
After you finish writing today, you will go to Soundtrap and find these sound effects. Update your script to reflect the names of the sound effects you intend to use. This will help you remember to add them when we edit the episode.
Here are the script expectations.
Login to Office 365 and continue your work. Make revisions to your script so far based on the feedback you received yesterday. Then, finish the rest of the show.
Checkpoint: Warmup
- I have read the entire warmup section above.
- I have read the comments left on my work yesterday.
Work Session: Finish the Script
You will work the entire period on your script, sound effects, and music.
We will not record today. We will record on Monday.
You may not finish early. Continue to make revisions, work on your intro music, and find sound effects until the end of the period.
Checkpoint: Work Session
- I have completed my entire script.
- My script meets the expectations outlined in the script expectations document.
- I have identified all of the sound effects I intend to use and included them in my script.
- I have finished the music that I intend to use for the intro music in Soundtrap.
- I am ready to record my episode on Monday.
Closing: Next Steps
On Monday, we will record our episode.
On Tuesday, we will edit our episode. Editing includes adding music and sound effects, as well as cutting out any mistakes or parts we don’t want to include in the final episode.
On Wednesday, we will publish our episode and share it with the class.
